Kate Nash is rubbish!

Filed under: SEO — Nick @ 2:18 pm

Only 6 months ago Kate Nash was playing in small clubs across London to crowds of 50 people tops. Now she has two hit singles and is releasing an album but in all honesty, I think she is rubbish.

She can’t sing, she isn’t all that good looking, she is much fatter in real life than she is in her videos and she has an accent that grates (the whole reason why I ended up in Liverpool).

So why has she become such a hit? Citation is the answer. She was invited by Lilly Allen (again, another brat) on MySpace as one of her top 10 friends. From this exposure, people have found her work unique and has been signed up by a record company as a result.

People must like her music otherwise she wouldn’t be in the limelight now, however without the citation by Lilly Allen, it is debatable whether she would have been recognised or not.

The same thing happens in SEO on all the major search engines. The more popular your site and the more links and citations to your site, the stronger your authority is on each engine.

Conclusion: Citation is crucial to success on the internet.
